CALL FOR MEMBERS 2009
The Vagabond Trust is a national group of Canadian writers who workshop fiction and non-fiction, poetry, plays and writing for film and television. The Trust creates community: providing space for writers to meet, discuss and edit works in progress; hosting a monthly reading series; and organizing an annual retreat to write in places that are on the verge of severe, startling and remarkable transition. In 2008 the Trust rode many ferries through the port towns of Southern Newfoundland from Port-aux-Basques to St. John’s. In 2009 we are planning an expedition for writing, workshopping and outreach to Northern Ontario in Summer 2010. This is a funded expedition for Trust members, through grants, fundraising and corporate sponsorship.
The writers in The Trust come from diverse literary backgrounds. We currently consist of professional poets, prose writers and theatre artists who have had our respective work published by small presses and literary magazines, presented by established theatre companies and had our work produced in theatre festivals across Canada.
We are starting up a chapter of The Vagabond Trust in Toronto. Professional writers from all genres are invited to submit an application. Please email a short bio or resume, a sample of writing (five poems, five pages of fiction, a scene from a play) and a short paragraph about why you would like to become a member of The Trust to:
thevagabondtrust@gmail.com.
